Journal Prompt: How Do You Love Yourself
Reflect on how you asked for love and gave it to yourself this past week.
Writing Skins is a reader supported author newsletter that shares excerpts from an award nominated speculative fiction writer’s craft journals. It offers a vulnerable, funny, and interesting look at the writing life, craft, and storytelling.
For this week’s journal prompt, reflect on how you showed up for yourself with care and love.
I know that doesn’t sound super artsy fartsy or whatever, but personally, I have a hard time showing up for my creative projects if I am feeling down, depressed, unworthy, or in need of care, so I have tried this past week to show up for myself and give myself satisfaction and love without waiting for it from the outside world.
What are 7 ways you showed yourself love this week
The 7 ways I showed myself love this week were:
Dressing up in a way that made me feel attractive without caring if anyone else felt the same way.
Went on a solo walk listening to a Christine and the Queens album.
Allowed myself not to stress on missing work I scheduled for myself.
Rested when my body was in pain instead of trying to push through it.
Did a spa day with my partner at a cabin.
Buying new headphones for my walks.
Got oysters for lunch.
How about you? Share how you cared for and loved yourself this week.
Did one of the ways feel healing or necessary in ways that shocked you?
Next Sunday, we’ll talk discovery.
